Popularly known veteran Yoruba actor Tajudeen Oyewole Abija disclosed how the loss of his beloved wife and two daughters was the saddest moment of his life.
This came days after the actor turned to social media to seek financial assistance from his fans during a live session on TikTok.
In a recent interview, the 66-year-old actor revealed that this tragic incident significantly impacted his acting career, leading to episodes of depression. And he recounted that he never expected that the time he spent with his wife would be their last.
He said that the loss of two children added to the extreme pain and sorrow following the death of his wife. He feels that the entire catastrophe was a spiritual assault by his ex-boss, with whom he had a falling out at the time.
His remarks regarding the passing of his wife and children;
“The saddest moment of my life was when my beloved wife (Iya Biodun) died. It was like four days to the Sallah festival that year.”
“In fact, I had bought ram for the family to celebrate the Muslim Festival when the incident happened.
“A few days before the festival, I had to travel from my house in Ibadan to participate in a stage play in Lalupon, Iwo, and some other towns.
“The show was scheduled for the evening, but due to the long distance, I had to embark on the journey in the morning. Before leaving the house, I prayed with my family and wished them a happy celebration in advance.”
“I was shocked to see him at the show. He told me that my wife was critically ill, and the doctor told him she needed an operation to survive the sickness.
“I told him (my brother) that it was too late to travel back home. I suggested we leave the location before daybreak the next day. I did not know that my wife was dead.”
“Meanwhile, he already announced the death of my wife to many of my colleagues at that event. Getting home, I met the corpse of my lovely wife.”
“After my wife’s departure, I also lost my two beautiful daughters to death.”
