Popular veteran Yoruba actress Bose Akinola recently opened up about the discord that unfolded between herself and her colleague, Rukayat Lawal, famously known as Iya Ibadan Sneh, during a movie production.
When Iya Ibadan Sneh publicly criticised Bose a few months ago, accusing her of underpaying for her work on set, emotions exploded. Bose divulged the behind-the-scenes scenarios of her violent argument with Sneh, a long-time friend and colleague, during a recent filming.
It’s evident that their relationship grew quite hot now that Bose Akinola has spoken candidly about the heated argument. Iya Ibadan posted a video of herself and Bose arguing earlier this year on Instagram, with Ibadan accusing Bose of not paying her for her part in the movie.
Iya Ibadan, who even produced a record for the payment, insisted that Bose had only given her N500 of the N500,000 that was due. Iya Ibadan refused to stop recording until she had her full payment, and Bose refused to pay the entire sum during their heated dispute, which was captured on camera.
In a recent interview with Success 105.3 FM in Ibadan, Bose disclosed that the altercation seen in the widely shared video was not only a light-hearted repartee but rather a serious argument that almost caused their friendship to fall apart. Bose revealed that Iya Ibadan requested a 500k payment to work with her on set, which Bose thought was a disproportionate amount given their closeness. She highlighted the custom in the Yoruba film business where celebrities help each other out without charging extravagant fees.
Bose claims that Iya Ibadan asked her to SMS “5”, which is code for 500k Nevertheless, Bose cooperated with the literal meaning in a hilarious manner, sending 500 naira as instructed, per her friend’s desire, in her eyes. Iya Ibadan showed up on set, obviously agitated, and confronted Bose Akinola about what she felt was an unfair payout. Bose did, however, reassure that they have since made up and are getting along well.
