When an elderly person is talking, quiet is the best thing one should do. Rotimi Salami has trespassed on his boundary by attempting to slap veteran actor Antar Laniyan while on a movie set.
In accordance with the script, Rotimi was instructed to hit the seasoned actor, and he didn’t think twice because he claimed to be a movie director himself and appreciates people following instructions.
Even though Antar Laniyan allowed him to slap him, he said that in Yoruba culture, it is improper for a son to slap his father because Rotimi defines him as a father figure and he has no right to do so, even on the set of a movie.
Rotimi said that his frowning face would prevent him from hitting the veteran because he was too nervous to do so. Before Rotimi did, the veteran delivered him just a slight whip to set an example. Rotimi, however, became irritated when the slap struck him more forcefully than he had anticipated.
Rotimi instructed the director to come and demonstrate to him how he would strike the veteran. The veteran gave the director a harsh slap for behaving as though he wanted to truly strike him.
Fans applaud the veteran actor Antar Laniyan for smacking Rotimi, stating it is a retribution for everything he has been doing for those veterans while others suggest that Rotimi has seen what is beyond his powers and must take the slap.
