Mercy Aigbe, a well-known Nigerian actress, director, and fashionista, is overwhelmed with pride as her movie ADAOMODADDY got nominated as one of the best movies of the year at the Best of Nollywood Awards 2024 (BON).
On her Instagram handle, she posted a video showcasing the moment she bagged the award, full of surprises and joy rolling all over her.
Ada Omo Daddy is a 2023 Nigerian family-orientated comedy drama written by Yakubu Olawale, co-produced by Mercy Aigbe, and co-directed by Akay Mason and Adebayo Tijani. The movie hinges mainly on a paternity deception unravelled in the course of a wedding party popularly known as the “Owambe” in Yoruba.
Ada Omo Daddy tells the story of Pero (Omowumi Dada) who is set to marry Victor (Tayo Faniran). Pero’s life takes a dramatic turn when Ifeanyi (Charles Okafor), suddenly appeared claiming to be her biological father, stirring up trouble in the seemingly perfect Balogun family. The sudden appearance of Ifeanyi, estranged but now repentant, unfolds unpleasant past secrets that must be resolved before Pero’s wedding with Victor.
She dedicated the award to everyone who has supported her thus far and to everyone who went to cinemas in December of last year to see her film ADAOMODADDY since they all contributed to making the moment possible for her. Without them, she claimed, no one would be called Mercy Aigbe.
The mother of two conveyed her profound gratitude to her distributor, her spouse, Kazeem Adeoti, and the whole cast and crew of the film, as well as to her production team, for their contributions throughout the project.
