A movie director, Seun Egbegbe, who was released from prison in 2022, has spoken out about his incarceration in an interview with actress Biola Bayo on the Talk to B show. He revealed that though he has done dirty things in the past, he has never killed someone.
He further revealed that notable individuals, such as former governor Fayose, former INEC chairman, Mompha, and others, were transported to the cell where he was detained. He added that in 2020, COVID prevented them from appearing in court for the entire year.
He told how Redeemed Christian Church of God fed him and three thousand other prisoners every Sunday and thanked the Redeemed Christian Church of God for taking care of them while they were incarcerated. Additionally, he warned the populace never to run from a crime.
He said: “I have done a lot of dirty things in the past but I have never k!lled someone. Famous people were brought to the cell where I was, including ex-Governor Fayose, former INEC chairman, Mompha, etc. In 2020, during COVID, we didn’t appear in court throughout the year. I will advise everyone to flee from cr!me. The Redeemed Church really tried for us in prison. Throughout my stay there, they brought jollof rice, two meat and bottled water each every Sunday for over 3000 inmates”.
To refresh your mind, on February 10, 2017, in Lagos, Olajide Kareem, better known as Seun Egbegbe, was convicted of fraud and given a six-year, eight-month prison sentence. Between 2015 and 2017, he was accused of defrauding no less than thirty bureau de change operators in Lagos out of a variety of amounts in both local and foreign currencies.Afterwards, on October 12, 2022, he was set free.
Speaking out after his release, Egbegbe disclosed that 95% of his loved ones had deserted him while he was being held. He saw that while his confinement, his idol-like personal helper did not pay him a visit.
