President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces has expressed grief over the killing of farmers on rice fields at Zabarmari, in Jere Local Government of Borno State, describing the terrorist killings as insane, Insidenaija reports.
Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the president, Garba Shehu, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, November 28, 2020.
President Buhari condemned the horrific killing of the hardworking farmers by terrorists in Borno State.
According to the president, the whole country is hurt by these senseless killings, and prayed that the souls of the victims rest in peace.
“I condemn the killing of our hardworking farmers by terrorists in Borno State. The entire country is hurt by these senseless killings. My thoughts are with their families in this time of grief. May their souls Rest In Peace, ” he said.
President Buhari said the government had given all the needed support to the armed forces “to take all necessary steps to protect the country’s population and its territory.”
Meanwhile, Insidenaija had previously reported that, unknown gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists had slaughtered about 43 farmers and many missing in Zabbarmar an outskirts of Maiduguri, Borno State, insidenaija reports.
According to the report, the farmers met their untimely death while harvesting their crops in Zabarmari, a Borno community known for rice farming.
The farmers were native of Soko State in the North-West who had traveled to Borno State North-East to work.
