The Bundesliga starlet stole the show in Dortmund’s 3-2 defeat of Sevilla in the Champions league with a brace and an assist on Wednesday night.
Erling Haaland has ignited a potential transfer in the near future following another scintillating Champions League display.
The 20-year-old Borussia Dortmund forward scored twice and created an assist to inspire his side to a 3-2 away win in the first leg of their last-16 tie against Sevilla.
Along with Kylian Mbappe, Haaland is considered one of the hottest young prospects in the world, and he has certainly been turning heads all around Europe.
He is said to be Chelsea’s No.1 target for the summer, with the Blues preparing a huge offer at the end of the season.
And the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool have also been linked in the past, with Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer known to be a massive admirer of the player.
As always, Real Madrid are also in the equation, with the Spanish giants keen on a new star signing.
And Haaland certainly did little to play down the speculation when asked about being ‘desired in Madrid’ following the full-time whistle in Sevilla.
“It’s always nice when someone wants you,” he replied with a wry smile, suggesting he would certainly not close the door on any potential switch to an elite club when the transfer window opens again.
Haaland has a £66.6m release clause in his contract, but this does not become active until the end of the 2021-22 season.
Therefore if Dortmund want to receive a fee closer to the £100m they value the player at they will have no choice but to sell Haaland this summer.
There are only a limited number of teams who would be able to afford the Norwegian international.
But there could be an almighty transfer tug-of-war for his signature, with the former RB Salzburg man being tipped as a potential future Ballon d’Or winner.
Haaland admitted he had been inspired by Mbappe’s hat-trick in PSG’s 4-1 win against Barcelona on Tuesday when discussing his most recent performance.
“It was good to score goals,” he said. “I love the Champions League and when I saw Mbappe score the hat-trick yesterday I got free motivation, so thanks to him.
“He scored some nice goals and I got a good boost from him.”
