“Remember your roots” – Man United star blasted for celebrating 9-0 win over his former club

Manchester United cruised to a 9-0 win over Southampton on Tuesday night at Old Trafford in the English Premier League. Southampton were reduced to 10-men in the 2nd minute of the game as Jankewitz was shown a straight red card.

Wan-Bissaka put Manchester United ahead in the 18th minute, while Marcus Rashford added United’s second in the 25th minute. An own goal from Bednarek in the 34th minute put Manchester United in a comfortable lead and Edison Cavani added Manchester United’s fourth goal in the 39th minute as the Red Devils entered into the half-time break with a four-goal advantage.

Anthony Martial scored United’s fifth in the 69th minute as McTominay added found the back of the net two minutes later. Bruno Fernandes scored a penalty in the 87th minute with Anthony Martial getting his second goal in the 90th minute. Daniel James wrapped up the victory for Manchester United in the 93rd as they claimed a vital win to go level on point with League leaders, Manchester City.

Following the win, Manchester United star player, Luke Shaw, who recorded two assists in the game against his former club took to his verified twitter page to make a post which read, “9-0” while adding an emoji at the end of his post.

His post seemed to have triggered some fans as they couldn’t believe he was celebrating a victory against his former club. Luke Shaw spent three seasons with Southampton where he made 67 appearances for the club in all competitions before joining Manchester United on 27 June 2014.

Following Luke Shaw’s post, some fans have reacted to it and they have dropped their various comments concerning it.

A comment read, “Not a SaintsFC fan but that’s poor @LukeShaw23. You shouldn’t forget your roots & you wouldn’t be where you are today if it weren’t for @SouthamptonFC.”

Another comment read, “Remember where you came from we made you use to have respect for you but this does it.”
