The 34 year-old striker scored the equalising goal for Atletico after Santi Mina had put the visitors ahead at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium on Monday, before adding another goal early in the second half to give his side the lead. Celta scored lated on to salvage a draw.
Suárez currently leads the top scorers chart with 16 goals, three more than his former Barcelona teammate, Lionel Messi (13).
His 16 goals have come in just 17 La Liga outings, making it all the more impressive, as the Uruguayan is now the fastest player to score 16 La Liga goals for a single club this season –a record previously held by Cristiano Ronaldo(15) for Real Madrid in 2009/10.

Atletico Madrid sit top of the table in La Liga, 8 points clear of Barcelona and Real Madrid, and with a game in hand. Diego Simeone will be hoping that his compatriot continues to find the back of the net, as his side look to claim the La Liga title for the eleventh time in their history.

Suárez 34 and still going
Suárez joined Atletico Madrid last summer on a free transfer after his Barcelona failed to renew his contact. The striker was deemed surplus to requirements at Camp Nou, with new manager Ronald Koeman informing the Uruguayan that he wasn’t in his plans.
Koeman said recently that he does not regret letting Suárez go, but admits he would have preferred to see him join Juventus instead of Atletico Madrid.
Suárez has turned out to be a hot property for the Capital club, and could now fire them to the title ahead of his former side, Barcelona.
