Chelsea begins their UCL-defending campaign when they take on Russian Champions Zenit St.Petersburg on Tuesday 14th of September. The blues have been touted by some to win a consecutive UCL title this season and they would take the first step in this arduous journey tomorrow.

Given the way they have started this 2021/22 Season, a win against Zenit might be tricky, but not impossible. They have already won this season, the twin of their UCL title -the Super Cup trophy and have started the Premier League Campaign on a title-challenging scale.

With three wins out of four games played so far in the Premier League, Chelsea Can Boast three clean sheets and an unbeaten run which they would look to extend when they travel to Tottenham next week.

However, for their UCL opener against Zenit St. Petersburg, they are set to be without two of their first-team stars. Here are The Two Players And Why They Are Likely Out of this Game.

Christian Pulisic

The American Winger has been instrumental for Tuchel’s gameplay since his arrival in January. He was an integral part of Chelsea’s European successes last season which included the UCL and Super Cup titles.

Unfortunately, Pulisic received an ankle injury while on international duty with the US National Team in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. He is very likely to be unavailable for Chelsea’s first UCL game tomorro

N’golo Kante

The French midfielder’s fate is much the same as Pulisic’s. He is out due to an ankle injury which he picked up in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool last two weeks.

Kante, 30, was Chelsea’s strength during their Uefa Champions League campaign last season well as their successes all through the years since his arrival from Leicester City In 2015.

This is further shown in his performances for Chelsea last season as grabbed three back-to-back Man of the Match awards during the Semifinals and finals of the UCL which they won.
