So since Jose Mourinho was given the sack at Manchester United, some fans and even pundits have been trying to analyze between Mr Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the iconic Jose Mourinho.

Some of the fans think that because under the current management of the club, Manchester United seem to be playing their best football since the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson retired.

While I do not hold any grudge against those with this view, I feel very compelled to do a thorough research so I can without any bias say who is a better Manchester United Manager between the two men.

As at November, 2020, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has managed about a 100 Manchester United games since Jose Mourinho’s sacking. In the next paragraph, I will try to do a fair comparison of how the two managers’ compare.

As we already know, Jose Mourinho was sacked in December 2018 after a poor start to his third season at Old Trafford.

Under the Baby face assassin’s first 100 games in charge of United, the team won fifty-five games (55), drawn twenty-one (21) times and lost twenty-four times. United managed to score about one hundred and eighty-one (181) goals and conceded about a hundred times (100) with just thirty-eight (38) clean sheets.

Manchester United under the Norwegian has not won any trophy despite playing three semi finals in the Carabao, Emirates FA and Uefa Europa Leagues.

The player with the most appearance for the club under Mr Solskjaer is Marcus Rashford as he’s appeared eighty-one times(81) and he’s also the highest goal scorer with thirty-eight goals.(38)

Now let’s see what the stats say about Jose Mourinho’s first hundred (100) games in-charge of the Red Devil’s. Mourinho won sixty-two times, drew twenty-three times and lost just fifteen.

Within this period, Manchester United scored a total of about a hundred and eighty goals(180), conceded just seventy(70) times and kept forty-nine(49) clean sheets. Marcus Rashford appeared the most at eighty-one (89) with the ageless Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring the highest goals at twenty-eight(28). Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United won the Community Shield, Carabao cup and the Uefa Europa League in his first season. In his second season, he played the FA cup finals against Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea but lost by a lone goal.

As the stats show, The former Porto manager, Jose Mourinho had a betterwin rate during his first 100 games in charge of United than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer though the team under the Norwegian may be playing their best football since Sir Ferguson retired.
